Nearing Completion

18 November 2025

This month we are hosting the third Chefs Grass to Grill tour, inviting new and existing customers and their staff to join us on a tour and learn about organic farming and how their meat is reared. This is a great opportunity to help provide factual information for the hospitality sector and enable them to speak to their customers with knowledge of the product they are serving. A full tour bus (Tractor and trailer) also provides a good chance for people to speak to others in the industry and forge good connections. Of course – it wouldn’t be Grass to Grill without a feast at the end – where the Butchery can showcase the estate meats and other produce form the estate businesses.

You may have seen the posts from Good Food Guide to 100 best pubs in the UK – and the Kinneuchar Inn has be voted No.2! What an accolade and a real boost.

After what seems to be the slowest renovation in history, we are nearing completion of the new shops space and Cook School for Stocks. In a matter of weeks, we will be looking forward to seeing the newly converted space which has seen transformation over the past 10 years from a Grieves Cottage (Farm foreman) to a Gym and Spin studio and now a retail space.

The Butchery at Bowhouse is now open on Sundays too – so if you have forgotten to get that Sunday roast – don’t worry, you will find what you need on Tuesdays to Sundays now.

Cameron attended the annual Lincoln Red Society Dinner in Lincolnshire and was delighted to be awarded Winner of the Large Herd Competition. Judged by other breeders, the process involves an inspection of all cattle on the farm, which is no mean feat with 1100 of them to misbehave.

Tups have been out for a month with the ewes for March lambing, and have now been joined by the tups for April lambing – so there is a sea of coloured bums on ewes and some tired looking tups around at the moment. Ewan counted 180 ewes marked in 2 days – No wonder the tups look tired.

November also brings a conveyor belt of vaccinations and blood tests for Tuberculosis, Johne’s Disease, IBR, Leptospirosis which are all present in cattle – but as part of the Scottish High Herd Health Scheme – we test each year to make sure none of our animals have them. So by the end of the month – our cattle will know their way through the handling pens and will have met the vets on several occasions.
