East Neuk Eggs

       

Organic, free range eggs from hens raised on pasture in the East Neuk of Fife.

David Moyes was a successful 2024 Pitch Up! applicant, with his first flock of 200 laying hens arriving at Balcaskie in July of 2025.

Interestingly, Dave’s original Pitch Up! application wasn’t for chickens at all… it was for a mushroom growing business. After exploring other opportunities, he took on the challenge of creating a mobile organic poultry enterprise from the ground up.

From designing and building his own mboile chicken coop to navigating organic certification, food safety and egg-packing regulations, it’s been a steep learning curve. But it’s certainly paid off.

Today, every egg produced is sold, with demand consistently outstripping supply. Dave’s organic eggs can now be found supplying local restaurants and cafes, stocked in shops, and delivered directly to homes.

This is just the beginning of East Neuk Eggs. The plan is to grow the flock from 200 to 600 hens, with two more mobile coops in the pipeline.
